About the BILL

The Buffalo Indoor Lacrosse League (BILL) is the very best and only winter indoor Canadian Box lacrosse league for boys in WNY.  The BILL is an AILA (American Indoor Lacrosse Association) member league having joined in 2011.  The BILL brings together WNY most accomplished elite-level lacrosse organization with AILA, the international leader in year-round box style lacrosse. AILA was founded by one of the most acclaimed box lacrosse players and managers and present General Manager of the Philadelphia Wings Johnny Mouradian and Bill Shatz,the founder of the Fire Lacrosse Club, an elite-level lacrosse organization serving the Greater Tampa Bay/Sarasota/Bradenton.

BILL Format

  • Mission: to have highly competitive games ensuring player safety, enjoyment and development
  • Teams: JV and Varsity aged teams with roughly 15 players per team
  • Play: First 2-3 weeks practice and play; Second 6-7 weeks games; possibly playoff and tournament at the end
  • Officials, Time Keepers, Coaches will ALL be AILA certified coaches.
  • Jerseys: will be provided
  • Insurance: all players are required to join AILA which will cover your insurance in all AILA events for 12 months
  • Rosters: will be decided by the league to ensure its mission is being accomplished however players can request teammateswhen registering as long as they come from the same high school or for travel reasons. The league will do its best to accommodate all requests, in particular high school teams, however the league will have final say in all rosters  - PARITY & SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Game Format

  • 5 on 5 plus goalies
  • Game is 4 – 12 minute quarters
  • 30-second shot clock

Rules

  • All players are required to know and abide by AILA rules.  All rules are spelled out in SECTION VIII – INFRACTIONS beginning on page 32 of the league rule book by clicking here.
  • Repeated major rule violators may be expelled without refund.

Age Groups and Times

League players must be high school JV or Varsity ability.  Therefore grades 8-12 however in some cases 7th graders may be admitted.  Refunds will be granted to any 7th grader if the league determines they are not physically ready for JV lacrosse. 
Games will be played on Sunday mornings between 8am and 1pm.  The final schedule will be posted after the second week once rosters are finalized

Equipment

  • Outdoor lacrosse equipment is fine!
  • Goalie Equipment Requirement: Helmet, neck guard, mouthpiece, stick.  All box style padding will be provided by league if you do not have it!
  • Field Player Equipment Requirement: helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves and mouthpiece

    • Failure to have any of the above will prevent athlete from participating on that given day.
    • First time lacrosse player and in need of equipment:  Blue Bison Sports in the Transitown Plaza (4185 Transit Road Williamsville, NY 14221 Ph: 716-631-4792) has an equipment package on special if you tell them you are from the BLA.

About AILA

The American Indoor Lacrosse Academy was formed in 2010 by Johnny Mouradian the current GM/Head Coach Philadelphia Wings (NLL) and William Shatz the Owner of the Tampa Bay Fire Lacrosse.   The AILA's education and training platform shares and teaches the unique training methods of Indoor lacrosse skill development, philosophies, principles, and tactics to players, coaches, referees and parents.  The AILA platform provides a fun opportunity to learn indoor lacrosse at all ages and across all skill levels.
