Who we are

The Buffalo Lacrosse Academy and its Team Buffalo teams are the oldest continually operated college lacrosse preparatory club in Western New York.  It began in 2005 and has merged with other local groups and evolved dramatically over time.  Prior to Team Buffalo's (and formerly the Buffalo Wings and South Buffalo Lacrosse) inception, area lacrosse players who did not make the former Empire State Team, were essentially left to fend for themselves with the support of their high school coaches.

Team Buffalo's mission is to develop strong lacrosse bonds between players from all different backgrounds, help them develop their lacrosse abilities, ensure they get tremendous college lacrosse exposure, support them through the college recruiting process, and provide ongoing lacrosse opportunities beyond high school (both on and off the field).  In 2017 the BLA will enhance its focus on the academic side of our "student-athletes" as we offer services that are not found in other area sports club programs.  The first of which is these SAT Prep courses.

  • We are most proud that Buffalo Lacrosse Academy and Team Buffalo has helped more boys have successful college lacrosse careers on and off the field, than few others in the nation!  We do this by helping the player and the family find the 'best fit' college for each unique athlete.
  • We are the only lacrosse club in WNY that has a full-time director of lacrosse operations and player development in Michael Carbery.  Carbery is the former Assistant Athletic Director at Medaille College and Medaille College's former Head Mens Lacrosse Coach.  He and the rest of the staff pride themselves on running a family friendly, yet competitive program.
