BLA Skill Schools

The BLA Skill School is the Buffalo-Niagara region’s only specialized lacrosse skill camp. For three days, these schools focus on only one positional skill area with each of its athletes. At this camp, expect a lot of individual attention and intensive skill area training. Registrants will learn what it is that sets the great lacrosse players apart from the average ones. The following areas are offered: shooting, goalie and defense. An add-on face-off option is offered which will take place for one hour at the end of day 2.

To many players of all levels fail to develop the proper shooting mechanics to become what it takes to be a great goal scorer.  We begin by methodically going through proper shooting mechanics with all shooting school athletes and progress up to shooting off a dodge from all areas of the field.

Defense is so much more than just throwing checks with a 6-foot stick.  Becoming a consistent and dependable defender is our primary focus.  At the BLA defense school athletes receive instruction on proper agility training that leads into extensive training in the areas of on and off ball defense.  Defenders also receive instruction in the areas of shooting, face-off wing play, stick skills and take-away checks.

In the crease between the pipes is toughest and most important position on the lacrosse field.  Great lacrosse goalies have a way of making big saves look routine.  At the BLA goalie school, goalies will be instructed in proper positioning, angles and stick mechanics.

Controlling the entire flow of a lacrosse game begins with face-offs.  This is a position routinely lost in a hectic lacrosse season.  Most coaches expect their players to independently become strong at face-offs.  The BLA face-off add-on option is a great place to learn correct body stance, moves and strategies.
