Lacrosse Friendship Festival Returns for Second Year

In its second year, the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy (BLA) and PlayersSports will be organizing with the support of numerous other lacrosse organizations the Lacrosse Friendship Festival. This year, the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware in care of "Colin Zwickert."    Story

    Detroit-Mercy Announces Its First Recruiting Class | May 9, 2008
    The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse head coach Matt Holtz announced the Titans first ever recruiting class on Friday. The 17-member class is composed of 10 freshmen and seven transfers hailing from six states and three time zones. The class includes six midfielders, five defenders, five attackers and a goalie. The Titans, the only Division I program in the state of Michigan, will begin varsity competition next spring as an independent.

    East Coast 2008 All-Conference Teams and Awards | May 9, 2008
    Central Islip, N.Y. - Junior attack Eddie Ege of Adelphi University and Rockville Centre, N.Y. has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year, headlining the 2008 ECC All Conference Awards as voted by the conference coaches.

    Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College head lacrosse coach Bowen Holden will welcome eight new players to the Heights next fall. The Eagles will look to improve on their 7-10 record from the 2008 season with another standout recruiting class.

    GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior midfielder Dana Dobbie was named the 2008 ACC Player of the Year, announced May 9 by the Atlantic Coast Conference. She becomes the third player in league history to earn the honor twice, joining Jen Adams and Katie Chrest. Dobbie is the only player from Canada to earn the award.

    #1 Duke Opens NCAA Play Hosting #18 Loyola | May 9, 2008
    DURHAM, N.C. -- The top-ranked and top-seeded Duke men's lacrosse team will open the 2008 NCAA Tournament by hosting Loyola on Saturday at Koskinen Stadium. Face-off is set for 2:30 p.m., and the game will be televised live on ESPNU. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and children and may be purchased online at www.GoDuke.com or by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-375-DUKE.

    #2 Virginia and #6 UMBC Face-off in NCAA Opener | May 9, 2008
    CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA-The University of Virginia has received a bid to the 2008 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship and will host UMBC in the first round Sunday (May 11) at 5:00 pm at Klockner Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPNU. The tournament's second seed, Virginia is 12-3 this season and currently ranked third in the coaches poll.
